Recently, I spent two days with a group of ex-athletes and business leaders at a wellness retreat in Aspen. The likes of Dan Churchill, Kyle Quincey, Eric Hinman, Mike Aidala, Brian Mazza, and Sahil Bloom spoke with us in between different physical and mental exercises. The panels varied from nutrition, supplements, physical exercise, emotional well-being, recovery, mobility, daily routines; all centered around mind, body and spirit.
This was an opportunity to get together a group of like-minded individuals who are interested in being the best versions of themselves. Not only physically but in their careers and for the loved ones around them. It affirmed there is no magic bullet, that each of us has vices and achilles heels, and you must attack self-improvement from a holistic perspective. You have to love the process of trial and error to understand what works for you physically, spiritually, and emotionally. It has to start with you, to be a better person for those around you.
This never happens on an individual level. Surround yourself with people you love, who have your best interest in mind, and make you better; your tribe. It also helps to live and travel to places that encourage this behavior. I am overwhelmingly grateful for the town and community we live in, the mountains we are surrounded by, and the playground that is our backyard. For those of you who call this place home , I hope you recognize how lucky we are, and for those of you thinking about moving here, you will not regret it.
